Car rental in Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria, has a minimum chargeable period of 24 hours, so a car used for a few hours is charged for a full day. The resort is one of four south-coast delivery points, where the car is brought to the address you give in the town.

Collecting a car when you land means having the driving licence to hand straight off the flight, with its details shown in Latin script. Copies and electronic licences are not accepted.

Can I rent for just one day?

The billed period for a short rental has a full-day minimum, so a car taken on Monday morning and returned on Tuesday afternoon is charged for two days. An extension beyond the agreed return needs advance notice to the rental agent.

Puerto Rico to the airport is about thirty eight minutes over forty seven kilometres, and the airport to Puerto Rico about thirty nine minutes over forty nine.

Does delivery make more sense than airport collection?

Delivery brings the car to the address you give in Puerto Rico, confirmed for the selected car. Airport collection is in arrivals at LPA, on the supplier's instructions from the voucher. The delivery cars and the airport cars are separate searches, and each car shows its transmission, seats, mileage terms, deposit, card requirement and whether it cancels free.

For a rental with a different return point, the search takes separate pickup and return places. A car delivered in Puerto Rico and handed back at the airport is a one-way booking.

Where will I meet a delivered car?

Puerto Rico is one of the resort delivery points, alongside San Bartolome de Tirajana, Meloneras and Bahia Feliz, with the car brought to an address you give inside the resort. The address, meeting time and any delivery charge are confirmed for the selected car.

The phone number given at booking, with its country code, must be reachable the day before delivery and throughout the rental. The voucher carries the rental agent's contact details.

Which nearby journeys can I plan?

From Puerto Rico, Puerto de Mogan is about seventeen minutes away over roughly eleven kilometres. Arguineguin is about nine minutes from Puerto Rico over roughly six kilometres.

A visit to Maspalomas begins with about twenty one minutes on the road, over roughly eighteen kilometres. Blue markings there mean paid parking and white markings free parking.

On a longer route for the journey itself, Puerto de Mogan to Agaete is about ninety three minutes over roughly one hundred and eight kilometres. Agaete to Teror is about forty five minutes.

A short run to Arguineguin or Puerto de Mogan is bound by the rules for resort outings just as a mountain day is, so every stretch has to be paved and public. Fuel, parking, fines and tolls on the way are paid by the renter.

What must the driver bring and check?

The main driver meets the car with the physical licence, valid to the end of the rental and with its details in Latin script. Minimum age and driving experience are listed on each car's page, and the agent may refuse a driver who does not meet them.

Where a credit card is required, it is a physical embossed card in the main driver's name and it goes to the handover. The booking filters show cars that need no credit card and cars that take a debit card for the deposit, and the voucher states how the balance and the deposit are paid.

Can I include a ferry trip?

Some cars are approved for inter-island ferry travel and some are not. Approval belongs to the individual vehicle; ask before booking to choose an approved car. Questions about the crossing itself go to the ferry line.

What insurance and fuel conditions apply?

After an insured event near Puerto Rico, the renter tells the agent at once and gets a police report unless the agent agrees otherwise; skipping either cancels the selected vehicle's cover during a short rental and leaves the renter fully responsible. Standard insurance does not cover damage to the wheels, undercarriage, windscreen or interior, and what any higher level of cover adds is stated on the car itself.

The car goes back with the fuel level it was collected with. A lower level is charged at the rental company's rates, and a fuller tank earns nothing back.

Frequently asked questions

These answers cover the practical questions behind the rental. For an existing booking, your voucher identifies the rental agent and the agreed arrangements.
