Las Palmas car rental on this site starts at Gran Canaria Airport, not in the city: your Gran Canaria rental is met in arrivals and driven about twenty seven minutes north. Airport collection means any credit card the chosen car requires goes to LPA with the main driver.

The airport is about nineteen kilometres south of Las Palmas, in Telde and Ingenio, and its code LPA comes from the city's name. A rental that starts later in the stay begins with a trip out to the airport.

Where does the car actually come from?

The form on this page searches cars handed over at Airport Gran Canaria (LPA). You meet the car in arrivals on the supplier's voucher instructions, then drive to Las Palmas.

The routed drive is about twenty seven minutes from the airport to Las Palmas and about twenty five minutes back, over about twenty six kilometres each way. The GC-1 is not designated a motorway between the city and the airport.

How much of my mileage does that use up?

Collection and return add about fifty one kilometres before any sightseeing: about twenty six north after pickup and twenty six south to hand the car back. On a car with a daily cap, those kilometres count against the first and last day.

Mileage terms are set per car: some airport cars have no limit, others a daily limit or a total for the rental. The car's page shows its mileage terms.

A lower-cost car rental is charged for every day booked, including days the car stays parked in Las Palmas. From the city, Teror is about twenty one kilometres out and Agaete about thirty three.

Where do I park in the city?

Blue lines mark paid parking, white lines free parking, and green lines in Las Palmas mark preferential parking for registered residents. The sign and parking meter at the space show the conditions for other drivers. Parking charges and parking fines during the rental are paid by the renter.

What is worth driving to from here?

For a northern island outing, Teror is about twenty one kilometres from central Las Palmas and thirty one minutes by the routed drive. From central Las Palmas, Agaete is about thirty three kilometres and thirty five minutes.

Roque Nublo is about forty seven kilometres and seventy minutes from the city. Southbound on the GC-1, Maspalomas is about forty nine minutes over fifty eight kilometres and Puerto de Mogan about sixty four minutes over seventy eight.

Trips from the city to Teror or Roque Nublo keep to paved public roads, because the driving conditions rule out unpaved and private routes alike. That rule covers the unpaved tracks in the interior around Roque Nublo.

What do I need to bring to collect it?

The main driver brings the physical driving licence, valid to the end of the rental and with its details in Latin script; copies and electronic licences are not accepted. Where the car requires a credit card, it is a physical embossed card in the main driver's name, and it goes to the airport handover.

The booking filters show cars that need no credit card and cars that accept a debit card for the deposit. Payment of the balance, the deposit hold and its refund timeline are shown during booking and on the voucher.

The minimum chargeable period is 24 hours, so a car collected on Monday morning and returned on Tuesday afternoon is charged for two full days.

Is the insurance going to cover the city?

An insured event in Las Palmas traffic comes under the selected car's insurance and reporting conditions just as one on a mountain road would: the renter tells the rental agent immediately and obtains a police report, unless the agent agrees otherwise. Missing either cancels the insurance and leaves the renter fully responsible.

Standard insurance does not cover damage to the wheels, undercarriage, windscreen or interior. What any higher level of cover adds is stated on the car itself. Damage caused deliberately, by intentional vandalism or by neglect, voids the insurance.
